Novena

Novena to Saint Michael the Archangel

September 20-29, 2020

Prayer is more important now more than ever before.  Connecting with our community in prayer might be the single most important thing we do in these most uncertain of times.  And in times of uncertainty, it is natural that we seek what is familiar and comforting.  For many of us, prayer offers both.

This month we will begin praying an older, perhaps less familiar Catholic prayer tradition called a Novena.  A Novena, from the Latin word novem, or “nine” is a prayer, or set of prayers, prayed for nine days, hours, weeks, or even months for intentions that we as individuals or groups might have.

We invite our Juan Diego students, family and friends, to connect with one another in prayer beginning Sunday, September 20 as our Juan Diego Catholic High School community will begin the Saint Michael the Archangel Novena ending on September 29, the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel.  Each day at 9 a.m. we will broadcast the novena being prayed from our campus with our students.  Please join us live or any other time during your day that works.  A novena is also a beautiful prayer for a family.

A powerful part of praying a novena is that it gives us the opportunity to pray for others as well. If you have a personal intention that you would like us to pray for during this novena, you may submit your those intentions below. We will light a novena candle for each prayer request we receive.

We look forward to sharing this beautiful Catholic prayer tradition with all of you.

Saint Michael the Archangel, pray for us.
