The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus.) The CDC is following this rapidly evolving health situation.
Please know that, as Campus Nurse, I have been working with both the CDC and Salt Lake County Health Department. The CDC is constantly updating their protocols and restrictions regarding this virus. As policies change, parents/guardians should utilize the links below to keep abreast of evolving practices and procedures.
Our schools have received directives from the Diocese as to Mass practices as well as reminders directing us to follow government advisories and instructions.
As with previous H1N1 and Influenza outbreaks we continue to encourage good hygiene practices such as frequent hand washings, utilizing hand sanitizer in classrooms, disinfection of desks, etc. If at any time the closure of the entities of the Skaggs Catholic Center becomes necessary, it will be in conjunction with the Diocese of Salt Lake City as well as the state and local health agencies.
- Below is the policy regarding any sick students:
As recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we ask that individuals with influenza-like illness remain home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100 degrees), or signs of fever without the use of fever- reducing medications.
- This means that if your student has a fever today, he/she cannot be at school tomorrow. Students need to be fever free for 24 hours. If you give your student medicine in the morning due to a fever, he/she must stay home that day.
Below are resources to keep you in the know on the current CDC recommendations. Also included is the phone number for Salt Lake County Health Department, a resource for questions and/or concerns you may have regarding the COVID-19 virus.
